2020 Summer Youth (ages 13-14) Baseball
Good Morning!
PLEASE GIVE FEEDBACK IF YOU ARE INTERESTED!!
I was approached immediately at the close of last season's spring baseball by concerned parents who desired to have some sort of Spring and/or Summer ball for their 13-14 year old. The 13 & 14 year olds seem to be the age that get "lost" between 12 and under ball and High School ball. I think it's important to keep the kiddos busy as well as to keep their baseball skills fresh so that they may be ready for high school ball.
I have been doing some research into various options for this age group. There are several options such as:
What ALL of these options have in common is that NONE of them are spring ball. There simply is not anything available for this age group for spring ball. The Brush League does not have this age group because they encourage the kids to try Jr High track and field to receive the experience and then make their choice of sport in high school. Obviously, there is nothing that says a team could not be put together in January/February to begin regular practices in the Spring to be extra ready for the summer ball. I am reaching out to parents to hopefully receive feedback. Please respond to this email regardless if you have interest or not. It would help our decision making process if we know that there is definitely not an interest or if there is an interest. Please also feel free to forward this email to anyone who you feel could benefit from the information.

I have been doing some research into various options for this age group. There are several options such as:
- The Babe Ruth League and the American Legion Ball club. Although both of these leagues are VERY competitive and would potentially bring the best out of the young athletes; both leagues also require extensive early start practices & travel which could add up in costs. The Babe Ruth League travels to nearby states such as Kansas, Nebraska, and throughout Colorado. The American Legion Ball does have travel but is not as far. Basically Denver, Thornton, Fort Collins, possibly Cheyenne, and some on the eastern Colorado/Kansas plains. Visualize about a 150 mile radius circle with Wiggins as the middle. That would be your travel, but not limited to that distance.
- Greeley/Evans Youth League-I have also looked into partnering up with the Greeley/Evans league again. They have offered the same registration pricing we have had in the past which is about $85-$100. Most games would be in Greeley, Johnstown, & Windsor. I have seen this league and it is fairly competitive.
- Local Option - Last week, I received an email from a gentleman from Fort Morgan that is looking to create a team in Fort Morgan and is interested in setting up multiple double headers through-out the summer: June and July with other teams from other towns. Registration would most likely be about the same as Greeley/Evans or less to cover the cost of uniform shirts and equipment. Cost would depend on what is desired for uniforms and if umpires would be required.
